Great experience and adventure. Hotels accommodations were great. Sergio provided great support even though we were self-guided. The route had some rough roads that might be better for mountain bikes

18 of us went with Fold-N-Go and it was a great decision. Sergio and crew went well above and beyond in tour support. Coming straight from an Nova Scotia winter with little ability to precycle/train as well as some inexperienced riders the trip was a challenge but was well supported. This was our groups' 3rd European bike trip and by far the most rewarding.

We had ZERO complaints! I never fill in these reviews but this is the tour company to select. Sergio is building his company and gave immediate attention to any request no matter how minor.

'2 thumbs up!'

Alex

I found this trip to be fabulous from start to finish. Sergio, Jose and Pedro went out of their way to be helpful, and to meet the different needs of everyone in the large group. The route had its challenges, with cobblestones, some steep dirt pathways and some city streets to maneuver, but Jose and Sergio worked very professionally to keep the group safe no matter what the terrain or riding conditions. Pedro would meet us with the support van at designated spots to top us up with water and snacks. The bikes were very well maintained, and got the once over by our guides after every day of riding to make sure they were ready to go for the next morning. Our hotel accommodations were very well appointed, (with an extensive buffet breakfast always included), and every day we had a hearty lunch at a restaurant en route, as well as multi-course dinner at each of our destination cities along the way. With the spectacular coastal scenery, the top notch guides, and the camaraderie of the group, this was one of the best cycling tours I have ever experienced.

First time doing a self guided tour. Great experience, mostly ridding on bike paths along the water or in low traffic areas. Beautiful scenery. Sergio and his team were excellent, from fitting the bikes, explaining the route etc. checked up on us every evening to make sure we were ok. I would recommend this easy to follow route with Top Bike tours to first time riders.

Our group of 4 just finished the Silver Route -2 trip, self-guided. It was amazing! Sérgio was terrific in all aspects. He helped us put together a program that had us cycling through the countryside, up and down mountains, and enjoying the coastline for 9 days. This is highly recommended, but make sure you have some fitness, as there are some good climbs!

Miguel and Jaoa were great guides and very helpful in organising lunches/dinners. Their sense of humour was fun even when some of it was lost in translation. The accommodation was excellent particularly the Hotel Parador de Baiona which is in a beautifully renovated castle in Baiona and the exceptional Hotel Torre do Rio in Caldas dos Reis which was located overlooking a river. My recommendation is that if you haven’t prepared for 6 days of cycling hire an ebike.

A BRILLIANT Lifetime memory provided by Top Bike Tours Portugal! We biked over a week from Porto to Santiago de Compostela! Sergio and the team took great care of us from the moment we arrived. The journey, the path, "the Camino", the way of the Saints from Porto is soo wonderful, along the Atlantic Coast with provincial village scenes mixed with pastoral meadows, beaches, pastures with grazing animals. While TBT Portugal didn't create all of that scenery, they made our trip so easy and pleasurable with our stays in fantastic hotels ( 2 castles!), and bringing us to the city centers to enjoy lunch and breaks. TBT Portugal does a GREAT Job!

I organised a group of 6 late 50’s/ early 60 year olds who are all very occasional recreational riders to do this ride. Fold n Visit modified their North of Portugal self-guided itinerary for us by starting in Castro Laboreiro so that we could experiences the beautiful mountains in the north, but without the pain of big climbs.
Sergio provided an excellent service -
The bikes were new or near new....two in the group opted for e-bikes. The power boost was rarely used as the ride is easy...mostly on cycle paths, many sealed or on boardwalks. The power option however did provide “peace of mind” for those that had it. Between 6 of us, we had a couple of flat tyres and a chain jumped off...all easily rectified.
The accommodation was excellent......generally 3 or 4 star.
The route planning and GPS helped us to easily stay on track.

Sergio was a pleasure to deal with....everything that was promised was delivered and at a very reasonable price.

May was a great month to be there...Spring flowers and fresh growth on deciduous trees, generally cool (rarely more than 20 degC), but not too cold. A fresh following breeze as we headed down the coast and not too busy.

Thoroughly enjoyed the self-guided bike trip. The "Top Bike Tours Portugal" has provided a luxary top notch cycling experience: the e-bike and MTB's are brand new and from top brands. We also enjoyed very much the choices of hotels along the route, there were two paradors and a resort style accomodation which were very much an unique once-in-a-life time experience. there is an option of adding an extra day in Vigo, which we thought was the right decision, considering our age group.

My wife and I did the 7 day self guided Porto to Lisbon reduced route with Top Bike Tours Portugal the first week of Ocrtober 2022.
I must give Sergio and his team a ten out of ten on all aspects of our trip. The orientation in Porto on day 1 was thorough, the equipment excellent and we were treated to a guided walk through Porto followed by a complimentary Port wine tour/tasting.
At the start of our trip Miguel guided us out of Porto and ensured that we were familar with the GPS and tour literature that was provided. It was so nice to be led out of the busy city and start our self guided trip on a lovely seaside path on the south side of the Douro river.
The whole trip was outstanding. The coast was beautiful and most of our biking was on excellent bike paths or quiet backroads. About 10% of the trip was on busier roads with good shoulders, never a problem.
The hotels that they booked us into were all excellent, four star or boutique. Breakfasts were very good and our baggage was always waiting at our evening destination. Every night Sergio checked in to ensure that all was going well.
We were fortunate that the weather was perfect for the whole trip. On our last day we were picked up in Obidos and transported to the hotel that we had booked in Lisbon.
We booked with Top Bike Tours because they are a local Portuguese based company and I am so happy that we did so. They are very professional, so helpful and proud to share the beauty of their country to us.
All of their team are avid bikers and such nice people. You cannot go wrong with this outfit.

My brother and I made our way to Porto to embark on this tour which we were doing as unsupported self guided. The service we got from Sergio and his staff was nothing short of spectacular. Starting from Henrique's guided city tour of Porto to the amazing hotels they arranged to the great bikes they provided, everything was first class. Sergio checked on us during the week to make sure there were no problems and made us feel like friends not customers

The one thing I would mention is I would not classify this as an easy ride.

My wife and I did the St.James way on bicycles with Top Biketours Portugal, The owner and tour guide Sergio was wonderful. Sergio picked us up at the train station in Porto and fitted us to our brand new mountain bikes. The next day John gave us an excellent walking tour of Porto.

We had a group of nine with ages ranging from 84
to 40. Five of the group had e-bikes and the remainder of us had regular bikes.Everyone in the group were so nice and became great new friends.
We stayed in some fantastic hotels and two castles. The food and comradely was wonderful.

The only trip that comes close to this bike tour was hiking the Inca trail to Michu Pechu.

We will come back and do the Southern route
with Top Biketours of Portugal.

Thank you Sergio for all the wonderful memories.

It had been awhile since we went on a cycling trip. We've always gone on regular bikes. This time we chose e-bikes. Our group was a mix of regular bicycles and e-bikes, yet it was still cohesive. We did the 9 day Lisboa to Lagos trip, which was a mix of both road and off-road cycling. The landscape was spectacular and at times dramatic. The accommodations were varied, comfortable and some extraordinarily wonderful. The food was delectable.
Our team, Sergio, João (John) and João (Christmas) were top notch: supportive, helpful, knowledgeable and fun. They love their country and loved sharing it with us. It was a memorable trip, and we would happily do it again. A heartfelt thank you to Sergio, John and Christmas!!!

Embarking on our 10th bike tour, we ventured from Leon to Santiago using e-bikes for the first time. The journey was both exciting and challenging, offering breathtaking scenery throughout. Despite it being early spring with many closed hotels, the route was well-planned and curated for us, thanks to Sergio and his team.

The transition from paved roads in bustling areas to thrilling mountain biking paths was seamless. Potential travelers should be prepared for a significant amount of MTB terrain, making the journey quite challenging. The well-maintained e-bikes provided a sense of safety and reliability throughout our trip. In case of any issues, we were equipped with repair tools and had Sergio readily available to address any questions.

We experienced a mix of accommodations, from charming hotels to more practical one-night stays, which complemented the tour perfectly. Overall, it was a rewarding adventure that left us feeling a sense of accomplishment.

We did the bike tour to Camino de Santiago from Porto. Sergio and the entire Top Bike Tours have been nothing short than amazing. They are so responsible and prepared, they have lots of knowledge about the path and surroundings, they were prepared with tools, water, snacks, tools and spares to make the trip as smooth as possible. They booked us at the most amazing hotels making the experience even better, people on other tours saw the hotels we stayed at and felt their experience was so underwhelming compared to ours. I had done other bike tours and this was so much better than previous ones. I truly recommend this company.

The bike ride was a wonderful experience, going through small town villages, and along the coastline of Portugal and Spain. We rode 25 to 40 miles per day on various terrains. The bikes were exceptional for our tour. We met wonderful people along the way and rode along side, new friends from Brazil, the US and Canada. Our guides were exceptional and Sergio paid great attention to detail in our hotels, our meals and all accommodations. He is a very gracious man and he made us feel part of his family. Arriving to Santiago cathedral in Spain was a most uplifting and spiritual part of the trip. You felt the genuine faith among the people and we were grateful to be able to participate in this wonderful pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela .
We would definitely do another tour with Sergio and Top Bike Tours.

My wife and I have now experienced seven European bike tours in various countries. Six were guided as was this one. This tour is a notch above all the others. You are in the constant hands and service of Sergio and his carefully chosen guides. The biking can be challenging at times. We chose the basic package with the meal plan. The accommodation and meals were excellent. If you invest and trust in Sergio, you will be richly rewarded. He is truly one of a kind. Southern Atlantic coast and Algarve, Portugal
Four intrepid bikers completed the 8 day tour just ahead of covid-19 March 20, 2020. Lisbon and the coastal bike route were grand, as described. Maps could have been better quality. Two GPS supplied with route loaded, finding the correct route in towns and leaving villages was a challenge. Lodgings and restaurants very nice, some staying open when we were the only guests. Sergio, Enrique and Diego, and Tripsite were extremely helpful daily! Thanks. We are home now, finished with the virus quarantine, well and ready to create a photo log of the trip. Hope to return to see the northern coast soon.

Recently my wife and I traveled with 18 others from Canada to Porto . The bikes were top notch and new or almost new. The guides took very good care of us and we felt safe at all times. They went well beyond what they needed to when I needed medical help(nothing related to the biking) and made the experience as smooth as possible. The accommodations were first rate. I have done a number of biking trips in Europe and the guides and support team was by far the most helpful. I would recommend them to any one.

I recently completed The Way of St. James bike tour, and it could not have been a better experience. We were a large group, over twenty, but Sergio, Jose, Tiago and Pedro all worked incredibly hard to not only keep us all safe and on course but to feel personally cared for in spite of such a large group. I was one of two vegetarians on the trip, and even though lunch and dinner were technically "on your own" our guides took great care to make sure we were well fed.
The route itself was beautiful and varied. The first few days were remarkable for their beautiful ocean views. Crossing into Spain, and moving inland we cycled down country roads through small town and villages, and through the woods on beautiful paths.
The accommodations beat all my expectations, we stayed in some truly special hotels, a real treat after a day on the bike.
The bikes were all in great shape and checked out every night. I had an issue one day with my bike not shifting properly (most likely because I knocked the derailleur after a clumsy little spill that morning) It was fixed immediately and worked perfectly for the rest of the trip.
All in all, this was a great trip thanks to the excellent work of Sergio, Pedro, Tiago, and Jose. They provided first rate customer service, but felt like friends!

We are a senior couple from Canada, ages 71.5 (wife) and 77 that booked directly with the company and chose the basic unguided bike rental package. This included one hybrid bike and an electric assist bike for the wife, second tier hotel accommodation, the shuttle of our personal luggage between hotels, and a walking tour of Porto. We appreciated the personalized service given to us by insuring that we had the right size bikes, providing us with an emergency phone and Garmin GPS unit for route finding, and keeping in contact with us daily via email. All the hotels were able to provide us with breakfast with the exception of the one in Caminha. This latter hotel served breakfast too late and it was in a very noisy location with loud people on the street leaving club(s) between 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. Overall, the accommodations provided met our expectations. The cycling route worked out by the company exceeded my expectations and we appreciated that there was a good attempt to be faithful to the designated Camino which was not intended for bikes. The alternate routing needed in some places worked out really well. The GPS track was a necessity and hugely better than relying on maps. As for the of the itinerary of 6 days, the distances set by the company worked out really well and allowed us to complete each day at a reasonable time (as early as 2:30 p.m. and as late as 5:30 p.m.). Our average start time on the road was between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. with a later start at Caminha because of the ferry crossing times. We truly enjoyed to long boardwalks along the beaches in Portugal. There are challenging sections on the route including steepness, as well as, rough and sandy trail surfaces, the kind of challenge I expected but could be overwhelming for some people. Keeping the latter in mind, I highly recommend this self-guided adventure.

We had friends who went on a Portugal bike tour last year and we found Top Bike Tours as an alternative and went with them. They were in between in price between 3 vendors. They were absolutely sensational. Everything was nearly perfect (there were 1-2 minor GPS glitches). It takes a lot of trust these days to do this. I'd never arranged a tour like this before. 10 people, 5 couples, all with different arrivals and needs. Communications were quick and articulate, in English. Customizations (we added another night, we had 5 couples all coming into Porto on different flights, we had one cyclist who wanted a non E bike) were all taken care of accurately. We were all met at the airport without a hitch (except for one couple who forgot they were being met and stranded the Top Bike Tours employee). The orientation was great. maybe could've used a little more instruction on the nuances of the GPS (like how to customize the trails, interpret the legends, etc) but we figured it out. 2 cyclists got a formal GPS unit; the rest of us used the "Ride With GPS" app, which BTW worked great on airplane mode to save on phone battery. They supplied a rainproof single right sided pannier which was excellent, adequate # of chargers, 2 extension cords, keys to remove batteries (one rider's battery would not charge in the bike so they had to remove it); chain lube, bells, a rear rack, and repair kit as well as rapid contact via What's App (which 2 of us couldn't get to load). The last day we apparently couldn't be booked at their go-to Hotel in Santiago, so we were booked at the Hotel Compostela (entirely fine, clean and modern) but we had to walk our bikes about 4 blocks to another hotel where we could drop them off; the receptionists there gave us a hard time so we texted/What's app'ed Sergio and he called them and straightened it out. The trip included luggage transfer between hotels, transfer from Porto airport to Hotel Trindade and then back from Santiago de Compostela to Porto airport on the day of our flights.

First of all, Sergio, Thelmo, and Miquel were all superb. Friendly, excellent English, on time, helpful, etc. The trip included a walking tour of Porto and a tour of one of the Port Lodges across the river, but as we'd been there for several days and had a customized tour of the Cockburn/Symington lodge through a personal friend who was a wine rep in the USA, we skipped it. The stops were terrific. On day one, Miguel led us out of town to the border of Porto and we were on our own. I will say...the hotels were absolutely first rate. I knew 2 (Paradors) would be superb. I was unprepared for just how nice they were. I would also have to say that Torre do Rio in Caldas des Rei was on the short list of the most gorgeous hotels/grounds I've ever seen. But the more modern hotels were just fine, sparkling clean, modern, spacious almost invariably friendly and helpful receptionists. Every one had a typical over the top Euro breakfast - pastries, scrambled/hard boiled eggs, european bacon, sausages, breads, cold cuts, fruits, great coffee, juices, etc.

In most cases upon arrival they recognized the Top Bike Tours name and they immediately directed us to a place where we could chain up and charge the bikes; in some cases (Parador in Pontevedra, for example) we had to leave the bikes chained up outside in a courtyard and bring in the batteries, which was a minimal bother. The hotel restaurants, when we had to rely on them (Hotel Suave Mar in Esposende) were good to excellent; in fact at Suave Mar my wife and I ate at the bar and the salads and burger were first rate. It was one of the ten best caesar salads i have ever had.

But the unanimous consent of our 10 riders were the hotels were all terrific.

The bikes (8 Scott Subs; a Trek manual mountain bike, and I forget the 10th Ebike) were all perfect. we had one flat, one slow leak; that was it. We rode on everything from dedicated bike paths by State highways to cobblestone (accursed stuff...) to gravel, crushed stone, boardwalks, sand, forest paths) and the bikes did great. They were super comfortable (we had 2 people with back issues and they tolerated the bikes great). We did between 16-40 miles a day and no one had a battery issue at all. The assist levels (they were Bosch drives) were eco, tour, sport, and turbo, and most of us lived on tour, using sport or turbo for occasional inclines).

I will say, parts of the Portugal ride - you need to be aware - were on boardwalks on the beach, some of the boards weren't nailed down well and popped as you rode over them giving a sort of piano key effect; in a few cases there were exposed nail heads but as long as you rode between the nail heads you were fine. Day 1 there were several places where the sand had covered the trail/board walk, and we had to slog on walk mode through the sand, not a lot of fun. Also there were very extensive cobblestones, which were a real pain, but those were mostly limited to days 1 and 2. Nothing you can do about them; just to be aware of them and the dunes. I'd say the dunes were maybe a total of a couple hundred yards max. I hadn't done my homework and didn't realize until the night before that in Caminha you had to cross the river on either a ferry (in our case it was not running) or a private launch; it was right next to the ferry "terminal" but basically you boarded off the beach; super nice guy(s); a max of 6 people and maybe 3-4 bikes per trip; took about 10 minutes to cross the river and it was an adventure (there WERE life vests!); the heaviest of our boats with about 6 people and 6 bikes actually ran aground on a sand bar but got off without too much consternation. It cost us $7 euro per person with bike. We rode to Esposende, Caminha (both through coastal scenery), then to Baiona (gorgeous ride and town); Vigo (our extra stop; a city of 290,000) but we actually enjoyed the ride in and the city itself. Then to Pontevedra, Caldas de Rei, and Santiago de Compostela itself. I thought the entire trip was terrific but I enjoyed the last 2-3 days the most. Much of that was through forest, small villages, farmland and vineyards. The views through the forest of the river after leaving Vigo were terrific. We were, as I said, blown away by the service of the Top Bike Tours team and the quality and location of the hotels. As I said earlier, the only glitches were the GPS got lost en route to the Pontevedra Parador; we gave up on it (only happened when we were well into town) so we plugged its street address into our Iphone map function and all was fine. Locals were almost invariably helpful. At least 4 times when we made a wrong turn, a local flagged us down and redirected us to the route. As we went further along we encountered more and more walkers/hikers, who were invariably courteous and shared greetings of "Bon Camino" or "Buen Camino". We literally only encountered 2 grouches on the whole trip. The consensus was that it

Sergio arranged a really great 5 day (6 nights) tour for me with breathtaking views of Douro valley, interesting and challenging off roads, quite and tranquil back countries, and comfortable and quaint accommodations to relax in at the end of each day. Sergio took great care of us (there were another couple whose tour dates were the same as mine), checked from time to time to see how we are doing, any questions or problems we might have, and shared with us much information on the local culture. His other staff are also great, friendly and knowledgeable about their city. Sergio arranged for a free walking tour of Porto as part of the package, and when we were at Pinhao he took us to a vineyard for port wine tasting. We were equipped with GPS with turn by turn instructions, no way to get lost. Douro valley is a beautiful and serene place to cycle, sometimes you feel like you have the whole place just to yourself. The villages and towns along the way are not touristy at all, very much maintained its local way of life. A great way to see beautiful nature and way of life in the wine country of Portugal. Really recommend a visit to the archeological site of Foz Coa to see the rock art our ancestor left us over 20,000 years ago and hear about the fascinating history of how it was discovered and the fight to preserve an important part of human heritage. Miss the nature, the sun and tranquility of Douro wine valley. Fold'n and Visit is the company to go with when you want to book tours in Porto or the countryside around it. Really recommend it for their service, care, attention to details and hospitality.

This is our 2nd tour with Top Bike Tours of Portugal the 1st being the Silver Coast. Sergio put together a fantastic tour to Santiago de Compostela following one of the Camino Trails.
Porto is an amazing city to start the rides with plenty of things to do and see and if you have a like of seafood your in the right place.
The accommodation was excellent the whole way even staying in old forts, castles and hotels. The bikes were excellent and very comfortable. Having the Garman GPS helps you keep to the trail and are easy to operate. The tour followed the coast on bike trails and then riding through villages and forests was amazing. We passed many walkers on the Camino Trail and found everyone to be very friendly calling out Bom Camino as we ride by.
The finish in Santiago de Compostela was incredible, riding into the square seeing all the people celebrating their achievement.
There were plenty of places to pick up morning tea, lunches and dinners. Breakfasts were included.
I certainly would recommend Sergio and his team at Top Bike Tours of Portugal.

Top Bike Tours-Trip Advisor
Exceeded all our expectations!
In early June 2022 my wife and I joined a group of international travelers for an ebike trip along the Camino from Porto to Santiago de Compostela.
This trip with Top Bike Tours Portugal was guided by owner Sergio and his assistant João. We were immediately impressed with their great coordination and professionalism during a week of fun riding and exploring.
The tour began in Porto with a “meet and greet” at our hotel on the day before the ride to get aquainted and get fitted properly to our ebikes. Being ebike owners, we were impressed with the quality of the equipment and instruction. Our group had many riders who had no experience on an ebike and they all learned very quickly how to optimize the electrical assistance when needed. This would come in handy at various points along our route when we approached an incline or daunting looking hill. The call among the group came to be “Turbo!”when the lead was starting a climb, as this was the maximum assist level on the bikes, and it made the climbs almost effortless‍️
One our first morning of the ride we gathered at the bike shop to begin the first leg of our journey. Sergio and João led us along coast bike paths of beautiful scenery. The route each day was well chosen to be easy and safe for all, with plenty of breaks for snacks and water.
An additional highlight for us was that the group was made up of new friends from Canada, Brazil, Australia, Portugal and the US. Our conversations around the table at lunches and dinners opened a window into another world of cultures we were unfamiliar with an excited to learn about. This was an unexpected bonus that created new friendships
Everything about the trip was well planned for safety, comfort, scenery and variety, and FUN!
We rode on bike paths, boardwalks along the dunes, dirt trails and a very limited number of smaller roads, with the occassional crossing of roads. Sergio and João planned ahead so the support van blocked traffic if we had to make any crossing of a busy road. Our safety was their priority.
The trip was also well paced to fit all of our riding capabilities.
We can’t say enough good things about our group of riders. We ranged in age from 45-72 yrs and bonded right away This was all due to Sergio being a great lead and João an exemplary assistant. João was a wealth of information on the history of Portugal, its olive oil and cork industries and almost any question you might have.
In summary, we have done lots of city bike tours on ebikes, but this was our first long trip(300km). We had a wonderful time and plan to do more trips with Top Bike Tours‍️
If you are considering a bike trip in Portugal we can’t recommend highly enough contacting Sergio and his great team at Top Bike Tours Portugal. You will not be disappointed!

What an incredible trip!! Sergio from Top Bike Tours curated a wonderful week for us with excellent hotels and routes. Surpassed our expectations! The little extras like a walking tour and wine tastings at different stops were thoroughly enjoyed as well. We had a few issues on Day 2 with some flats which were addressed the next day so all was good. We opted for e-bikes due to the climbs and we were glad we did. The descents were thrilling and something we will always remember. Would recommend this company if you want to tour Portugal! We loved our trip!

Sergio was very responsive and efficient in the booking. I enquired about the self guided Tras-os-Montes and douro international tour on 5 May and got a departure on 25 May with even a modification to the standard tour to fit our request for an additional cycling day along the Douro to our first hotel. Excellent quality race bikes provided with plenty of material (lights, tube, gps device, etc). Routes are spectacular and with few or no traffic. Hotel choices vary from very good to medium. Guide of restaurants to visit "en-route" or at the destination of the day needs updating as we experienced closed restaurants or very bad quality eating. Overall excellent trip and service!

We completed the Porto to Santiago ride via the coastal route which included a very informative city tour of Porto on the first day which was a nice touch, The tour followed a large portion of the Camino way so was on tracks with other walkers. It did therefore require some good bike handling skills (our's improved along the way). The customer service from Sergio was first class. He responded to all our emails very quickly. We gave him some feedback on some of the trails that had deteriorated and he immediately investigated and altered the trails for subsequent tours. We did a self guided tour which relied on a GPS. The maps were VERY accurate finishing right outside the front door of the hotel at the end of each day. Great and varied scenery and very enjoyable.

I booked 14 people in my group to do the 8-day guided cycle ride down the Vicentine Coast (Lisbon to Lagos) in late October-Nov. We've done numerous bike tours with several companies. Each one has their strengths and weaknesses. Top Bike Tours Portugal can be relied upon to give you a challenging biking experience with quality guides that make every effort to keep you happy on your trip. Portugal has so much to offer providing a great experience and value. Sergio is the hard-working owner of the company. He and his team will work on customizing your trip to provide a quality biking adventure.

I had the pleasure of organizing 18 friends from Canada on this extraordinary trip. From day one we were taken care of and totally immersed in the Portuguese and Spanish culture. Sergio, Jose and Pedro provided us with a safe, scenic and inspiring journey along the Camino. The challenge of cycling on the cobble stones and the sometimes-rough terrain made it all that more worthwhile. It in the end gave you the sense of accomplishment, that you earned the Compostela. The mixture of the beautiful coastline and interesting people we met along the way made the trip all that much more enjoyable. In Sergio, Jose and Pedro we found more than just a touring company. We found a group of people who are committed to the customer experience and needs. Along this extraordinary journey we also found folks we can truly call friend: Sergio, Jose and Pedro. This is my 3rd cycling trip and by far it was the best. I would highly recommend this company, this trip and the Camino.

I did the Coastal Route Bike Tour from Porto to Santiago de Compostela. What a FABULOUS trip from beginning to end! The scenery, lodging, the guides, rhe comraderie of the group, and the electric bike all contributed to a wonderful and very enjoyable 8 days. The guides, Sergio and John, were professional, friendly and helpful.

We rode from Porto to Santiago de Compostela May 18 - 24, 2022. We added an extra day in Santiago to explore the Cathedral and get our Camino certificates. The route was scenic and well chosen. The Garmin gps provided and well as the downloaded route in the "RidewithGPS" app made our independent navigation effortless. The accommodations provided as well as the baggage service were excellent. Riders should be aware that the first 3 days are relatively flat but the last 3 from Baiona to Santiago de Compostela contain some tough climbs that will require walking (or pushing) your bike unless you are a very strong rider. Consider an e-bike option if you are a casual rider.

7-Day The Way of St James Bike Tour- The Coast Path - Camino to Santiago.
My wife and I who are the wrong side of 65yrs.did this cycle trip recently guided my Sergio and back up by John in the van looking after stuff like our refreshment needs along the way, light entertainment through pleasant conversation and transportation of our luggage . We had the best fun on a holiday for years despite the physical exertion of cycling approx.280km in 6 days which wasn't a bother urged on by our fellow cyclists a most cheerful sprightly bunch of companions you could hope to end up with without prior arrangement .The comfort of "playing follow the leader "who was our man Sergio was really the icing on the cake and added to our confidence dealing with mixed terrain including main roads and traffic .For non habitual cyclists we really loved the experience and would have no hesitation in doing something similar again in the not too distant future with Top Bike Tours.

We did a self-guided tour and Serio and his team provided wonderful support. We did the coastal route. We got new bikes equipped with a GPS programmed for each day's ride, restaurant recommendations, and ongoing support. The ride itself was beautiful and meaningful to ride along the beaches in Portugal and the walking trails in Spain. It was great to be on the pilgrimage path so many have used over the centuries.

I have been cycle touring in Europe for over twenty years and hands down this was the best trip I have ever taken. Check every box. Sergio the owner takes great pride and makes every effort to make the experience wonderful. Fantastic scenery. The best hotels, one of which was the best hotel I can ever remember staying at. The bicycles were new and performed flawlessly. Every detail was covered from pick up at the airport, fitting bicycles, walking tour of Porto the day before departure on our ride, 4 star hotels, GPS units with route outlined, pick up at the end of our trip and transport back to the airport. Finally I have to add that Sergio's staff were all super friendly and helpful. Except for one day of pouring rain which is out of anyone's control I would have to say the trip was perfect.

Top bike Tours of Portugal provided an exceptional experience for an unguided, independent bike tour of the Portugal coast between Porto and Coimbra. Top Bike Tours set up the route and hotels along the way, arranged for our luggage to be picked up each morning and transferred to the next hotel. They provided well maintained Trek bikes, and a computer that had each day's ride programmed in (via a variety of trails/bike lanes/secondary roads that keep you off the main roads for most of the ride). We started in in Porto, and rode down to Coimbra over 5 days where we dropped the bikes off at our hotel for TopBike to pick up. Sergio and Top Bike also arranged extra hotel days in Porto at the start of the ride, and additional days in Coimbra and Lisbon at the end of the ride.

I'd highly recommend them for biking in Portugal, either for an independent trip, or on one of their guided tours.

We did a lot of research into riding in Portugal and after looking at a lot of companies went with Top Bike Tours and selected the North of Portugal and Minho ride.
The reason we went with Top Bike is the personal service we received from Sergio when looking to book. We are in Australia and even with the net, dealing with someone across the other side of the planet has challenges but Sergio worked through everything with us, made changes to hotels we wanted, provided good local advice etc and made the whole booking thing easy.
We looked at other ride companies but Top Bike are Porto locals and know the North of Portugal very well.
When we arrived in Porto, Sergio's team picked us up, briefed us on the bikes, equipment, GPS, trip route, everything. They then took us for a walking tour of Porto which was unexpected and gave us some very good local tips e.g. riding along the Atlantic, train trip up the Douro, local site, cafes etc.
After lunch in Porto the transfer to the north from Porto was easy, they booked us into our first nights hotel, Hotel Rural Reguengo de Melgaço, gave us some local tips and then let us be.
We then had the best 6 days of riding. Well planned ride, great paths, great local tips for coffee, lunch, sites on the way, dinner. Checked in on us from time to time to make sure everything was going okay, but mainly left us be to enjoy ourselves and make our own way.
Pick up for return to Porto was without fuss and we were returned to Porto from Ponte de Barca with more local tips and advice for staying in and around Porto.
Overall. we had the most enjoyable time.
That had a lot to do with what Sergio and his team had put together.
A well planned itinerary.
A well planned riding route which took us through little villages and off the beaten track. Good equipment, the bikes were near new, well serviced and ran well.
GPS, a Ride with GPS app, hard copy back up maps and daily itinerary.
Very good hotels, who were very welcoming and had great local breakfasts.
Efficient and easy bag transfer.
Overall, great support.
If I had any tips it would be to check out the hotels on tour on line well before you book. Some of them are well out of town, which is fine if you want that, but if you want a post ride drink or dinner, we found it nice to know how far we'd be walking distance to town. Having said that, we were not sure about the first nights accommodation at Hotel Rural Reguengo de Melgaço near the village of Melgaco. The hotel was quite out of the way and a long way from the village of Melgaco. Turns out it was absolutely terrific. After arriving at the hotel we rode up to Melgaco in the afternoon for a drink, and then rode back to the farm/hotel as it got dark. We then walked to a small village nearby and found a local restaurant, Adega do Sossego. The locals looked a bit surprised to see us, but the hospitality, service and food was terrific. In the morning we discovered we were the only couple in the hotel, but the lady running the hotel was there to greet us with a great breakfast. She couldn't speak any English and us no Portuguese, but she wanted to show us about the farm which was beautiful and had it's own chapel. Turns out the place had previously been the home of the local Baron from some time ago. A great start to the ride and obviously good advice from Sergio and Top Bike Tours.
Special mention to the locals. Very welcoming friendly people and so patient with our poor language skills. Lovely people.
Highly recommend this company on the basis of our experience.

I did a week long solo bike ride in northern Portugal and then a 10 day solo bike ride from Porto to Lisbon. The company provided excellent support. They texted often to make sure things were going OK. When I had questions (sent via WhatsApp), they provided short videos to show me what to do. The tools they provided me were used to fix two flat tires. The GPSes and phone app were used each day (it took me a couple of days to figure out the GPS). The paper maps were not used as they were not needed. The luggage transport worked just fine. I would use this company again. But, next time, I will look for cheaper trips as I do not need 4 and 5 star hotels. Portugal has way too many streets with cobblestones (hard on my knees). The routes had more turns than I wanted, so spent lots of time looking at the GPS (to keep on the route) instead of at the scenery. The route visited more beaches than I needed.

Great cycle trip. Porto to Lisbon reduced - guided. The coast was beautiful and I had a couple chances to swim in the ocean along the way. Effect from Hurricane Helen closed some beaches.

It was a small group (8) and two guides. Both guides were relaxed, easygoing competent and able to handle the varied levels of biking ability. Bikes were good. I used standard hybrid, some in the group used e-bikes.

We did not upgrade to premium accommodations and all were very comfortable, very clean and in great locations. It's the first time I've used Top Bike Tours Portugal and would highly recommend them.

My husband and I led bicycle tours in Nebraska for 30 years then started taking small groups to enjoy cycling adventures in Europe in 2018 with our new organization, Hound Dog Cycling Adventures. We contracted with Top Bike Tours Portugal for a 10-day trip which included cycling from Portu, Portugal to Santiago, Spain along the beautiful Camino coastal route. Sergio and his team of professionals provided top notch bicycles, support and guidance. They were very detailed oriented, accessible, caring, polite and most of all FUN! We know how difficult it can be to take care of cycling groups on these types of trips--they exceeded our expectations and expertly helped us through some challenging situations (beyond our control). We highly recommend Top Bike Tours Portugal and would love to come back and do another tour someday.

I have done both guided and self guided bike tours with Top Bike from Porto to Santiago. Sergio and his crew made sure everyone had a great time and went above and beyond to accommodate their guests. If you'd like to go at your own pace and feel comfortable riding solo, self paced is a good option, the GPS was pretty accurate and sergio was available if I had questions via WhatsApp, if you'd like to be with a group and stop for lunch and meet new people, then the group tour is a great option. The accommodations were great in addition to the food and support from Top Bike. All their bikes are new and in perfect condition. I would recommend them to family and friends looking for a top notch company to guide them on their travels...

We went on the Minho and North Portugal self guided tour. We had an e-bike and a hybrid bike, both very well maintained. The Too Bike staff were excellent and friendly. Guidance came from a bike GPS unit provided by Top Bike, which worked a treat and gave easy-to-follow navigation. However we had paper copies as back up. We were taken by van with the bikes from Porto to Melgaço. From there we cycled back to Porto over five great days of riding.

The scenery was superb, the route was varied, including surfaced cycleways, cobbled lanes, woodland tracks, and a few short sections of shared road. Most of the route was traffic free.

The hotels were excellent, each one with its own character. Our luggage was always there on our arrival, and there was always somewhere safe to store the bikes. We found lots of fascinating places to stop and look at en route.

All in all, thoroughly recommended.

My husband and I have taken many bike tours in the US and Europe, some self-guided. We chose this Porto-to-Santiago tour because our friends were interested in the area and had not gone on bike tours before. All of use are early fifties - mid sixties in age. All of us are regular bike riders, including some mountain bikers.

The best parts of this particular tour experience were our guides (Sergio and João) and the landscapes we pedaled across. There was NO way this could have been a self-guided tour, because the path was sometimes through forest or even narrow, steep streets in neighborhoods.

Our guides always made sure we kept on the path and stayed safe and well-hydrated and fed. They were consistently gracious, tolerant, and accommodating, with a good sense of humor.

Riding along the shore, across beaches, through forest, up and down hills, and through towns kept us engaged. The hotel choices were exquisite, offering a sampling of what rural and urban Spain and Portugal have to offer.

There are several tips I'd like to offer: 1. This is not an easy bike ride. Yes, there are easy parts and even some easy-ish days, yet you need to train before you go. Make sure you are comfortable in a bike seat for 5+ hours a day and you can negotiate hills. If you have doubts, choose the e-bike option. 2. If you have not been on a mountain bike before (I had not), it would be good to practice riding one before you go on the trip. Make sure you are comfortable with the heft of the bike and its broad handle bars. Go up and down some hills with loose gravel and/or cobblestones. 3. When you are assigned your bike on the tour, make sure the seat and handle bars are adjusted for your comfort and safety. Don't be shy! 4. This tour is destination-focused, so unlike other tours where we stayed in the same hotel for two days while we did local "loops" of rides, this one is all business. There is a schedule. Everyone starts at the same time in the morning. Simply know that that is the case and adjust your expectations. 5. Also unlike other tours, there are no choices of easy/moderate/difficult rides for the day. We all do the same ride. Again, simply be aware of that. 6. Unless you are an athlete, or you choose the e-bike option, there will be some hills for which you choose to walk down or up. It's all good. :-)

Fun and Easy! We are four ladies meeting for the first time since Covid for a fun filled girls outing. We decided to opt for a self-guided tour offered by Top Bike Tours in Porto. Sergio and his team were extremely well organized from picking us up from the airport/train station to the minute details of where to go (GPS/App) and the what-ifs. We did have a couple of what-ifs and João and Sergio were always available to see us through. A flat tire (repaired via WhatsApp) and a seat that kept sliding (Sergio came to our hotel and repaired it immediately) wonderful service. This is a honest and good organization. As for the Silver Coast itself, simply wonder! The Estuary and the famous natural reserve of S. Jacinto Dunes was enough to rejuvenate one. Thank you João for gentle manner and kindness. We also thank Sergio for making this trip possible with such ease. You have a beautiful country. Hilda

My friends and I enjoyed this 7 night trip which started in Monforte and ended in Arraiolos. The routes were very enjoyable with views of olive groves, vineyards, hill top towns and farm land. The distances just right. Most of us chose e-bikes which were in excellent condition with very good long lasting batteries. The accommodations were in a combination of pousadas and small hotels. We spent a whole day visiting Evora as it has many interesting historical sites. Monsaraz also was a wonderful surprise. We were pleased with our decision to bike to Arraiolos for our last night in the pousada there, it was such a beautiful and tranquil setting to end our trip with friends we had met on a previous bike tour in Italy.

7-Day "Camino do Santiago" Coastal Route (family of 4) Sérgio Marques at Top Bike Tours Portugal (TBTP) did an exceptional job organizing our 7-day trip. Telmo, one of Sérgio's team, picked us up at the Porto airport, drove us to the hotel & then to their bike shop (around the corner) where we were outfitted & sized for our bikes. We were then given an excellent 2-hour tour of Porto on foot ending at the Burmester port house on the Douro River where TBTP had organized port-tasting and a tour of the facilities. This was a really nice touch and most unexpected. The next morning we convened at the bike shop where our Camino began. Having chosen the unguided option, we were nevertheless guided through and out of the city to the coast by Telmo. It is at this point he bid us good luck and we were on our own for the next 6 full days of cycling. Guided by the programmed GPS provided by TBTP, all we had to do was follow it to the next pre-booked hotel where our luggage awaited us. TBTP's choices of hotels was excellent - the most amazing hotel was just outside Caldas dos Reis. The GPS was deliberately programmed to go through interesting city neighborhoods with hints to restaurants and places to rest all the while avoiding many of the over-populated routes frequented by walkers. Cycling through some of the cities was a little nerve racking because of the traffic. On a few occasions we were forced to walk up a hill because of the size of the boulders. Being an unguided tour, we had to do all bike repairs ourselves. Barring the rain on our first day to Esposende and the odd flat tire, it could not have gone any smoother. After a 4 km descent in Vigo, we encountered problems with one of the bikes which involved rear brake pad replacement. This was done at a local shop which Sérgio took care of immediately over the phone. He was most supportive. As a cyclist, a note to TBTP, I recommend fine tuning the bicycles before departure particularly stretched chains and brake pads. By the end of the 300 km trip, gear skipping, due to stretched chains on all the bikes, had become problematic. That aside, we can't recommend this trip enough. The coastal route was relatively easy with just one long day in Vigo. The scenic coastline was absolutely gorgeous with a rustic element. Rolling hills and towns peppered the landscape with incredible vegetation. The terrain was varied and perfectly suited for a mountain bike or a gravel bike with front shocks - full suspension bikes not recommended. For us, the most surprising thing was the extent of bike paths and infrastructure supporting the use of bikes in Portugal. Portugal is definitely a hidden gem. In short, we strongly recommend Top Bike Tours Portugal especially if you are new to this sort of adventure. It is basically an all encompassing package where the logistics are all taken care of. We especially thank Sérgio & Telmo of Top Bike Tours Portugal for an excellent holiday.

Amazing life experience along the coast of Portugal and Spain with breathtaking scenery. The support from the Top Bike Tours team was amazing and the trip was a memorable challenge. The bicycles we used were top notch and the resources excellent too. We passed small villages, roads, beaches, the coast, cities, and woods until we finally reached the beautiful town of Santiago de Compostela. I highly recommend this trip!

Took a 7 night solo bike tour March 2024 from Porto to Obidos through TOP. Had a great time....

Hotels and breakfasts were top notch. Vistas were remarkable along the way. Transport of my travel bag went through without any delays or issues.

Also want to give a 'shout out' to Sergio and Telmo! Thank you for your support at the start, during the journey, and finishing up to the end with my airport need. Obrigado!

I'll be coming back this fall for another tour.....

This was a fabulous biking adventure! The scenery was spectacular as were the accommodations and the care with which our guides treated us. The terrain was very varied with road and mountain biking intermixed. This kept the rides very interesting everyday. The bikes were great and the camaraderie on this trip made it so much fun. We stayed at a castle one night and a beautiful small hotel with a river running into a pool- amazing. Both of our guides, Sergio and Joao, were so knowledgeable, helpful and fun. I highly recommend this Porto to Santiago de Compostela- coastal path tour!

For our honeymoon, my new husband and I did the 7 day Northern Portugal Bike Tour. It was absolutely incredible, probably one of the best/most memorable trips we've done in all our travels.
Sergio met with us the morning we arrived in Porto and shared with us an outline of our 7 days, with just the right amount of details. We knew the directions, distances, and topography for each day of our ride, plus a brief description of the route, and suggested places along the way to explore, have a bite to eat, and experience the treasures of Portugal. The terrain was flat and comfortable riding through such a variety of bike paths, trails, cobblestone paved neighborhoods, vineyards, corn field, and wooden boardwalks.
The outline gave us plenty of flexibility to choose our "adventure for day" and opened our eyes to a much more intimate and local feeling experience of the country and Portugese culture.
Some of our highlights included....Discovering our first night’s stay off the Camino de Santiago Portugal in the historic castle town, Valenca, on the border of Spain.
The bike ride through the farmers’ fields and along the Lima River, taking in the sunset at the Cathedral in Viana do Castelo.
Riding along the coast, taking in the seaside landscape and passing through many small, traditional fishing villages.
This was an unforgettable experience! It was perfect for the two of us that like the flexibility and autonomy of traveling on our own, yet it provided just the right amount of directions and accommoda

It's hard to write one paragraph about such a magical and special experiences, but this bike tour was special in every way. The sights were spectacular, but the experience and adventure exceeded my expectations. I opted for the e-bike, and glad I did, considering I had never biked such a long distance and there were some uphills. Even though I did the trip by myself, the crew was always accessible by WhatsApp and ensured that my luggage made it from one place to another. I highly recommend both this trip and Top Bike Tours for anyone wanting to do a bike trip.

Outstanding bike tour! My husband and I have taken many bike tours; both domestically and abroad. This trip was absolutely excellent; the route, the quality of the bicycles, the accommodations and (best of all) the guides. We learned about the Camino, enjoyed spectacular scenery along Portugal and Spain's coast and celebrated with all the Pilgrims when we reached Santiago do Compestela. We had every level of cyclist on the trip and all of us enjoyed it immensely. I would recommend Sergio and Top Bike to anyone.

I just got back from my bike tour of the Camino coastal path. I can't say enough nice things about Sergio and his team Enrique and Tiago . They really made everything happen right on this ebike tour that my friend Jeff and I took. Every detail was taken care of and the route was interesting and well supported. Even when I wasn't able to ride one day because of a health issue, Sergio made accommodation for me.
I had a great time and can't wait to go back again with my wife and daughter.
The trip was very fairly priced, many excellent and memorable hotels, and the bikes worked well. thank you Sergio,Tiago, and Enrique

Outstanding! My wife and I just completed a tour from Oct 1-Oct 9 from Porto to Santiago De Compostella. Almost every aspect surpassed our expectations. To be clear we had never been to Portugal or Spain before so there was some WOW factor but we never got past that...the route, scenery, Bikes surpassed our expectations by a long shot. We consider ourselves pretty hardcore mountain bikers from Colorado and pushed back on E-Mtn bikes but in the end it helped make the trip...we worked hard but when we needed to preserve energy to explore the upcoming overnight stay we did. Allowed us to check out Roman ruins off the tour and other cool sites, without Bike we would have been wasted. We still worked hard and yet felt great finally getting into the pools at the hotels. The Hotels they set us up with were MUCH better than we anticipated. Overall they were a 4 0r 4.5 on a scale of 1-5. Some were a clear 5. No complaints. One example....riding into Baiano, we came around a corner and saw a spectacular castle ahead, the outer fortress spanning a few hundred meters and cool turrets, etc, perched at the edge of the bay. We said we had to go explore it. As it turns out our Hotel was a renovated part of the hotel , so we stayed nb the castle....amazing. I could and will go on later, but Sergio, Telmo, John and others were great. A trip we will tell stories about for years.

App, GPS with everything we needed to follow and navigate our self guided tour. Communicating with the team made easy with a whats app group. Bags moved daily to Your next hotel.

The tour was fabulous, from the coast and ocean to forest paths, lakes, huge lagoons, villages, farms, architecture, history, local markets and shopping areas to visit in towns.

Such a wonderful way to see Portugal on a bike.

Highly recommended We did and we loved it. Cathy and Rob NZ N

Porto to Coimbra bike tour, self guided. Outstanding! Would definitely use this outfit again. Sergio was quick to respond to emails and cheerfully made last minute changes to our hotel reservations that we were forced to make due to unforseen circumstances. Bikes, directions, hotels were all four stars, top notch. We upgraded to superior room/ocean view and didnt' regret it. Sergio was generous allowing us to use the bikes a day previous to our tour in porto and two days after our tour in Coimbra with no extra charge. He also added "bar ends" to my handlebars at my request with no extra charge. He checked in with us each day to make sure all was good.

My only quibble was the GPS device used for navigating. the screen is small and hard to see in the sun. Sergio made a correct point though, that these devices last longer than a cell phone on an all day journey. I found it easier to use my cell phone to navigate with Ridewithgps.com route, (that sergio also provides the link to these routes!). but my cell phone wouldn't last the whole day biking. Also, when it rained I had to put away my cell phone, while we could leave the GPS device still on the handlebars without worry. Next time I will strap an auxillary battery to the bike so I can use my cell phone the whole day to navigate with ridewithgps route.

Coimbra was our final destination. We spent three nights there. In retrospect two would have been better, or even just one. . Easy train from Coimbra to Lisbon. (side note: If you do Sintra on your tour, I would do at least two nights there. Sintra was the highlight of our portugal tour. It was a train day trip for us from lisbon. we liked it better than lisbon).

We are hoping to come back soon and do porto to santiago compostela tour with Sergio.

We have recently completed the Silver Coast bike tour. We chose to have E Bikes but I hardly used it as virtually flat the whole way. From the first decision to do the tour we were more than happy with the communication had with Sergio. On the first morning we met Sergio in the hotel and went through the itinerary for us. We then had a bike fitting and a practice ride. This was followed by Tiago taking us on a walking tour of Porto guiding us around all the historic places of interest ending up in a local port warehouse for an explanation on the life of making Port then came the tasting. On the morning of departure Sergio rode with us out of the city and sent us on our way. All of the accommodation was 4 star and of excellent choice. The riding was flat and some small amount on roads but most on cycle ways. Interesting riding along the coast small villages large towns through fire ravaged forest beautiful beaches. Having a GPS is an advantage to help navigate some of the towns. 2nd to last day there is a challenge but once at the top of the hill amazing views both up and down the coast. We did have a problem with one of the bikes and is was no problem for Sergio to drive down and replace the bike for us. I can highly recommend Fold n Visit and like that it is a small and personal company. Thank you Sergio and Tiago it was a great experience not to be forgotten.

This was such a highlight of our 3 1/2 weeks in Portugal. Can’t say enough good things about this ride! The views and the diversity of scenery were amazing. We did this with e-bikes as there is a lot of climbing in this trip. Sergio and his team were wonderful. We went to his shop beforehand to get fit for the bike and given all the details of the ride. The GPS route was extremely easy to follow and the accommodations were very good. The location of the accommodations were so unique and tucked into places with amazing views. It more than met my expectations! I’ve been on several self guided bike trips and this one ranks up there with the best! Don’t hesitate to book with Sergio.

My husband and I had the unbelievable pleasure of cycling the Coastal Route of the Camino de Santiago with Top Bike Tours Portugal. There wasn’t one thing I would have changed about this experience. We are in our 60s, and knew we wanted an experience that would have us staying at nice hotels with warm showers along the way. This and every other exceptional detail was provided by Sergio and his expert team.

When we first met in Porto, Sergio introduced us to his crew, our fellow riders, and the bikes that would be carrying us to Compostela. Our bikes were amazing — strong, current, and extremely well-maintained. We were each provided with a saddlebag to carry anything we wanted along the journey. Our luggage was transported by van to the hotels while we made the daily journey by bike. One of the crew would act as our guide, cycling ahead of us and making sure everyone stayed safe and relatively together. We’re so glad we chose that option as we wonder in retrospect how we would have found many of the smaller more obscure trails.

By the end of the trip, guides Sergio and John both seemed like family. They each went out of their way to make sure that every person completed a ‘bucket list’ adventure. Thank you, Top Portugal Bike Tours! We will never forget you or the 5-star experience you provided.

Sergio and his team did themselves proud - congratulations. This is a bike tour with a difference....from the excellent personal service, to the included walking tour of Porto, to the interesting and varied ride, to the high standard of the hotels especially the absolute gem Torre de Rio at the end of day 5.
The ride for the most part follows the Portuguese Caminho way, so is not always smooth and easy, but this is to be expected by its very nature, and adds to the challenge.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and unreservedly recommend it to all enthusiastic cyclists.

Hilda

This is a top class Top Bike Tour. Well organized. Very efficient management and guides, good value for money (even with $NZ), fantastic accommodation and top support along the way from start to finish. Top English, top humour, top local knowledge, top scenery top equipment and top bikes. It was great fun, there were 9 on the tour and it went better than clock work. We were well watered along the way and provided with snacks and fruit if you wanted them. We stopped at interesting attractions along the way museums, fish market, local towns and villages. The distances and terraine each day were well structured and very manageable on E Bikes. Each night an option for dinner was arranged if you wished to participate. These were on the whole exceptional and well priced, better than you would likely arrange yourself. Sergio, owner/manage/guide and his trusty young sidekick, Henrique were the nothing short of fantastic in their care, organisation and local knowledge. Well done guys. We hope to see you again.

Sergio and his team do an great job in ensuring the whole experience is a memory to be cherished as it relates to the biking experience, the near picture perfect rest stops, local authentic food along the 7 day trip, hotel accommodations and above all doing it with a smile and welcoming experience.

We just finished an amazing week of cycling along the coast from Lisbon to Lagos. Top bike did a great job lining up our bikes, hotels, routes and numerous recommendations. We loved going through all the small towns and all of the dirt roads and trails, so that we really saw the Portugal countryside, cliffs and all this beautiful country has to offer!

I did a two-night, self-guided tour of the Douro Valley with an e-bike. Very well planned and organized. Luxury accommodations. The GPS and printed maps were easy to follow, plus I downloaded an app with the planned routes. Very professional service that made my trip easy and fun! Highly recommended!

Our party of eight did the eight day self-guided Camino de Santiago E-Bike Tour. Wonderful trip! The scenery was spectacular, the e-bikes were almost new (two of them were brand new), the GPS route finding was excellent, the hotels were all very comfortable, and the baggage handling was flawless. Most of the riding was on dedicated bike paths, backroads, or elevated wood paths. There were a few short sections of sand that required pushing the bikes and a few busy stretches of road (all with good shoulders). Two memorable hotels are Parador de Baiona in Bayona which is inside a castle, and Torre do Rio in Caldas Dos Reis which is in a remodeled 18th century textile mill featuring a waterfall pool and spectacular gardens.

The GPS guidance takes you from door-to-door of each hotel on the tour. We got off track at least once per day but with the GPS it is easy to get back on route. I recommend using both the Garmin GPS provided by Top Bikes and the "Ride with GPS" route that Top Bike will help you load on your phone at the orientation session.

We had a few days of rain near the end of the trip but fortunately it came in short intense bursts that we could wait out in a sheltered spot. We did the tour in early September so it was quite warm. I recommend taking a bike raincoat and possibly a helmet cover. The panniers provided by Top Bike are waterproof.

We are already planning our next self-guided bike tour!

My family recently did a 7 day bike tour through the Duoro Valley with Sergio (driving the van) and Henrique (our guide). We had the most fabulous week! The route chosen by Sergio was perfect and the scenery was different every day. We stayed at beautiful Quinta's each night where we either ate dinner with the family (which was very traditional) or went out to great local restaurants. We also got to have unique experiences with the families (port tasting, olive oil visits, palaeontology visits etc). Henrique was the best guide we could have wanted. He was very friendly and enthusiastic and provided us with a wealth of information about every city, church, region, etc. Both Sergio and Henrique were extremely professional and went above and beyond to make our week the best it could be! We wouldn't have changed one thing! Thanks Sergio and Henrique!!

We did the Douro valley 6 day easy cycle trip with this lovely local company run by passionate cyclists in September. We were very unlucky to hit a patch of unseasonal rainy days but still enjoyed the sensational scenery. We elected to skip one day of riding which was just too wet and windy to be fun, and company were happy to transfer us, luggage and the bikes in a van. Luggage always arrived at next destination before we did, went very smoothly.

The trip was marketed as 'Douro very easy' one but a word of caution - it had some rather steep hills. We are merely amateur cyclists! My husband was challenged (but coped) but I'm less fit and ended up opting for an electric assist bike (very glad I did, it helped on the big hills). Suggest you know your own limits and look carefully at the trip terrain maps to make sure it's good for you. There are some flatter routes (eg Portugal Coast trip) for different abilities. Bikes were great quality.

The routes and places we visited were just wonderful, and Fold n Visit found some fantastic accommodation for us, great variety and very enjoyable. Although not designated bike paths for the most part, the roads were good surfaces, were quiet and felt safe. Great villages on the visit, diverse scenery - felt we saw the real Portugal. Very rural and peaceful, very relaxing. Foz de Coa palaeolithic rock art was a highlight as was the beautiful Hotel in the ruins of a castle. Staying on a working farm (Quinta) was great fun too. We selected the deluxe accommodation and think it was well worth it.

We had one glitch with a broken bike chain and got terrific personal support to fix it. The best thing about this young business is they really want you to have a fantastic experience and will go 'above and beyond' to make that happen. The service was completely personal and tailored to our interests and needs, you aren't just another person in a big group.

Portugal is a beautiful country with amazing diverse scenery, cycling was a great way to see it. Happy to support and thoroughly recommend this great local business.

We were treated to a great tour of Porto the day before our tour to Santiago Spain started. It was wonderful. The tour itself was nothing short of amazing. The hotels were top-notch and an experience in itself. The owner of Topbiketours made sure everything went seamlessly and made our journey memorable.

We did the 6 day Silver Coast Bike Tour, down the Portugal Coast from Porto to Coimbra. As I did not choose this trip myself, my expectations were 40/100. Once I got home and took in the whole experience, my expectation exceeded by 100%. I have travelled and done a few things, but none that has given me such a hands on, incredible experience like this. Sergio couldn't do enough for us. We had an awesome trail on the GPS, gave us great bikes AND WE NEVER FELT UNSAFE. The areas we biked into you wouldn't come across by car, and the local things you saw on the way I can't begin to describe, the magnificent whole scenario.
